Note added 17th June 2012: This page was created in 2002 and reflected the service at the time. Channel M closed down completely in 2012 and as such any links below will no longer be valid.
Channel M, previously known under the name 'Manchester Student Television', is one of the first handful of 'Television Restricted Service' stations being made available in this country, available in the Manchester area on UHF channel 39. Aiming at the student and youth population of Manchester, the station is a joint venture by 'The University of Salford' and a number of commercial partners including 'The Manchester Evening News / Guardian Media Group.'
There is an official Channel M Web Site which currently has brief information about the station and a programme schedule. I have been involved with the station as editor on a number of programmes. I will continue to maintain this Independent web page, part of my personal web site, with information about the station.
I have been involved with productions for Channel M since it's formation, initially as a student at The University of Salford, before becoming part of the Salford production team in a paid capacity.
There is further information about the programmes which Salford produces
on Salford Universities Channel
There are three main strands which Salford produce.
Interference Late night music and entertainment show 'Interference', featuring music, comedy and numerous celebrity guests.
A studio based debate show tackling a variety of issues.
A series of documentaries produced by the students from the award winning MA Documentary course.
See my editing page for more details on some of these programmes. In future updates to my web site I will be expanding this page with more information.
