MAKING HISTORY PHOTOS |
As part of my Masters course in Television Documentary Production at Salford
University, back in January 2000 I was part of a team of people producing
a short film about The Sealed Knot society, people who spend their spare time
re-enacting the British Civil War.
Our film centred around a local 'regiment' based in Cheshire and their preparation
for a re-enactment of the Battle of Nantwich.
This saw me and the crew getting rather cold in a number of fields around Cheshire, a few of the pictures are now avilable for your viewing.

To get you in the mood of the event, Saturday 22nd January 2000, after weeks
of preparation the troops assemble and march down Welsh Road in Nantwich through
the town towards a field just outside of the town centre for the actual battle.

It's late afternoon by the time the battle is underway. This great moody shot
shows the contrast of ancient and modern with the battle in the background
and the film crew in the foreground. From left to right there's Claire Faulkner,
Debbie Brindley, myself and Auriele Berckmans.

It was not just all running about in a cold field in Nantwich, we also filmed
one family's preparation for the battle in the pleasant surroundings of the
Cheshire suburbs, that was after getting lost! Plus in another cold field
in a country park near Northwitch, here pictured are camera woman Aurelie,
director Kate Vines, researcher Debbie and sound person, some bloke called
Phil apparently...

Finally a shot of me and Aurelie, and for the curious amongst you thinking
that name's sounds foreign, she's Belgian. Not pictured in these photos as
she was behind the camera is the film's producer (and official photographer?)
Milla Kontkanen.
