SADDLEWORTH BEER WALK 2000

For the past four years I have taken part in the great local event known as The Saddleworth Beer Walk.

The event sees the participants walking for around ten miles around the villages of Saddleworth with only half a pint in each of 10 pubs around the route as subsistence.

Each year hundreds of people take part, collecting money for charity and donning fancy dress. Being ever the inventive bunch at Radio Cavell, we decided that dressing up as the 'Jimmy Saville roadshow' like we had done the previous year was too old hat.

Given the fact that we had just won the 'UK Station of the Year' award in the national BT Hospital Radio Awards we decided to tell the world about by making the event a publicity exercise and so we were all equipped with some subtle, blend into the background T-shirts.

The Radio Cavell team prepare for the start of the 2000 Saddleworth Beer Walk. The contraption at the front is our 'music machine' cunningly disguised as a wheelchair!

Almost ready to go now! As we model the summer of 2000's top fashion item - The Radio Cavell T-shirt.
Star models from left to right, Lisa, Tina, Paul, Kent, Man with dodgy hairdo and Criag.

The excitement mounts, hot summers day with ten pubs to visit! We just hope we can make the ten miles including 'lark hill' which more resembles a mountain. You'll be pleased to know we all completed the walk, however details of the time took have been withheld.

Finally here are some of the other people mad enough to venture out on the Beer Walk 2000.
